Design Abroad
publication
Documenting the experiences of a design program abroad.
In the summer of 2017, I went on Western Washington University's Design Abroad program. We visited Germany and Switzerland, learning about both the history and present-day design scene. As a way to preserve the memories and itinerary of the program, I worked with a small team of designers to produce this publication.
Contributions
I helped organize the publication team by determining the overall pagination and structure of the publication, giving each team member responsibility for a chapter of the book.
I designed the Firms chapter, which gave an overview on the work spaces we visited:
collaboration
The publication team worked with a content team who provided the copy and selected most of the photography. My team developed a style guide for our publication that would best reflect the trip. We divided the content into five main chapters: Tours, Street Art, Firms, Food, and Close Up.
These additional spreads were designed by other members of the publication team:
Thank you to Jake Anderson, Miriam Gootherts, Andy Lai, and Naia Shedd for your individual and collective contributions on this project.
